Robotics Clubs Offered For Students in Grades 4-12

Robo Hounds Edison Robotics Club (Grade 4)
Meets 2nd Semester on Tuesdays from 7:30 to 8 a.m. in Mrs. DeVries Classroom
Students use Edison robots

Robo Hounds First Lego League Club (Grades 5-6)
Meets 1st Semester on Wednesdays from 3-4:30 p.m. in HT Room 4
Students use EV3 Lego Mindstorm Robots  First Lego League

VEX Robotics Club (Grades 7-12) 
Students use VEX Robots and equipment to compete in a new game every year. Students will learn how to design, build, and program a robot, along with developing social skills and team skills. Practices are on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Middle School teams (grades 7 & 8) will meet from 3:03-4:30 PM and High School teams (grades 9-12) will meet from 4:30-6:00 PM. There will be occasional Saturday morning practices. VEX Robotics

What is Robotics? It is the branch of technology that deals with the design, construction, operation, and application of robots. Robotics is used in a variety of industries, including manufacturing, electronics, retail, and pharmaceutical.

Purpose/Goal: The Robotics Club will provide an out-of-school opportunity for students in grades 4-12 to participate in Robotics. Robotics is highly engaging and assists students in rapid learning in areas such as science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). These opportunities will assist students in developing skills that can be used in and outside the classroom.

Students will:
  • Develop an understanding of the basic components of robots and their uses in real-world applications
  • Program a robot (coding)
  • Run experiments and participate in challenges and competitions
  • Collaborate with others
  • Engage in problem-solving
  • Design and create robots
  • Develop interpersonal social skills while communicating with their peers about their robot.
