Accelerated Reading, or AR, is a computer program that helps teachers manage and monitor children's independent reading practice.  Your child chooses a book at his own level and reads it at his own pace.  When finished, your child takes a short quiz on the computer.  (Passing the quiz is an indication that your child understood what was read.)

Some of the common questions asked are:

How will I know if a book has an AR quiz?
The AR Bookfind website is available to help you search for an AR Quiz by author or title.  It contains many additional features as well.

How can I help my child find books that are interesting to him?

The AR Bookfind website will also help you narrow a book search by interest, reading level, or number of AR points.

How will I know how my child is doing?
Renaissance Home Connect is a tool that connects the school and home to keep parents informed of their child’s progress toward AR goals, and encourages the child to practice reading at home.  You can also view all the books that your child has read and quizzes your child has taken.  Your child's User Name and Password are the same information they use to take an AR quiz at school.
