Musical Achievements at CHS
State Section Large Group Music Contest/ Festival: The Section Band and Choir Large Group 
Music Contest was held on March 12.  Groups performed before three judges and were evaluated in areas such as tone quality, intonation, rhythm, balance and blend, technique, interpretation, musicianship, appearance, conduct, and choice of literature.  Each judge was allowed to give up to 40 points based on all performance factors.  An award of Superior is given  if the point range is from 35 to 40.  The CHS Concert Band received three Superior ratings for their performance.  The CHS Choir received two Superior ratings and one Excellent Rating.  Congratulations to all our students and our musical directors Marijo Sweeney and Don Jirak!

State Section Solo and Ensemble Contest: The CHS choir and band once again gave amazing 
performances at the Section Solo and Ensemble Contest held at Minnesota State University in Mankato on Saturday April 19, 2008.  CHS Band members Brady Waibel and Frankie Johnson received a Superior Rating on their saxophone duet, and Monica Reising and Sadie Olson received Superior Ratings for their vocal solos.  Excellent Ratings were awarded to Dharam 
Dhami for her vocal solo, and to Dharam and Jaya Dhami for their vocal duet.

Summer Sale Items: Please keep Snofest and Family Fun night in your thoughts during the summer months.  End of the season spring and summer sale items are popular with our Snofest crowd or perhaps you can put your creative talents to work and make something for the Silent Auction.  Higher value items for the Live Auction are needed and appreciated!  If you have any questions or ideas to share concerning Snofest, please contact Karen Domeier at 233-0751

Cathedral Golf Classic: If you are interested in participating in the Cathedral Golf Classic, please contact John Vetter at 354-5144.  Event date is Monday, August 4 at the New Ulm Country Club 12:00 P.M.
